The picturesque village of Crich stands high "on the hill " from which it was thought to be named . The Crich" Stand " a working lighthouse which can be seen from many directions is a memorial to the Sherwood Foresters and stands at a height of more than 1000 feet. Long range views over the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire countryside can be seen from both the Stand and the Tors with views along the Derwent valley. There are many local walks with splendid local views over the Derwent and Amber valleys which help to make the area popular with walkers. Crich was once a knitting center and important for mining with links to Robert Stevenson and the birth of the industrial revolution, Arkwrights Mill at Cromford is close by. The village links with Stevenson make Crich the natural home and worth a visit see :- The National Tramway Museum which caters for all ages with rides along along the cliff . The village is also popular as is the original set of the popular Carlton television series in which a number of properties in the village and local areas have featured see :- Peak Practice for more information.
